Gold 2002 Manchester Welterweight

Daniel Geale (born February 26, 1981 in Launceston, Tasmania) is a middleweight boxer from Australia, who won the gold medal in the men's welterweight division at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester, United Kingdom, and is the current IBO Middleweight champion. He represented his native country at the 2000 Summer Olympics, falling in the first round to Italy's Leonard Bundu.

After winning the 2002 Gold Medal at the Commenwealth Games, Daniel turned pro in 2004, knocking out Danny Bellert in the third round. He then went on to build a record of 17 bouts for 17 wins with 12 KO's. On December the 14th at Wests Campbelltown, Leumeah, New South Wales, Daniel fought for the IBO Middleweight Championship of the world against another undefeated Australian, Daniel Dawson, who was 29-0-0 with 20 KO's coming into the fight. Geale outclassed Dawson over 12 rounds to win the IBO Middlewight title with the judges scoring the bout 120-110, 120-110 and 119-109.

On the 27th of June, 2008, Daniel defended his IBO Middleweight Championship with another 12 round unanimous decision over United Kingdom based fighter Geard Ajetovic (16-1-0). The bout was another showcasing Daniels skills, with judges scoring the bout 117-111, 117-111, 120-109.
