Hector "Macho" Camacho (63-3-1, 31 KOs)

vs. Oscar De La Hoya (25-0, 21 KOs)

Sept. 13, 1997, Thomas & Mack Center, Las Vegas, Nev.

The undefeated "Golden Boy," just 24 years old, already was an established star, with victories over Jorge Paez, John John Molina, Rafael Ruelas, Genaro Hernandez, Jesse James Leija, Julio Cesar Chavez, Miguel Angel Gonzalez, Pernell Whitaker and David Kamau. The 35-year-old Camcho was eight months removed from a stunning fifth-round TKO victory over Sugar Ray Leonard for the IBC middlweight crown  -- his sixth career world title in five different weight divisions. De La Hoya's WBC welterweight belt was the prize for the winner of this fascinating clash of styles.
