 This was one of the most-anticipated rematches in boxing after Holt and Torres tangled in a tremendous fight in Colombia the previous year. Torres won the WBO light welterweight title in the 2007 collision, getting off the deck from a sixth-round knockdown to stop the Paterson, N.J. fighter in the 11th round. Holt, who was leading on two of three scorecards that night, insisted the referee had stopped the bout too soon. He also complained that he had been hit in the head with full beer cans that had been thrown into the ring that night.
